Discover the new 2022 Silver Philharmonic from the Austrian Mint
Product Highlights
The 1oz Vienna Philharmonic Silver coin has been produced by the Austrian Mint since 2008. Both sides of the coin feature the same design as the gold Philharmonic version.
The Silver Philharmonic is the highest minted and most well known silver bullion coin produced in Europe.
The obverse features the Musikverein Golden Hall, a concert hall in the Innere Stadt borough of Vienna. This is where the actual Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs. The inscription ” REPUBLIK OSTERREICH ” (‘Republic of Austria) surrounds the Great pipe Organ located in the centre of the coin surface. The mention ” 1 UNZE FEINSILBER ” (1 ounce pure silver) is also minted in the obverse. The face value of 1.50 Euro is located at the bottom of the coin.
The reverse shows the different instruments used in the Philharmonic Orchestra in Vienna. These instruments include the harp, violin, cello, flute, bassoon and french horn. The inscription ” WIENER PHILHARMONIKER ” (Vienna Philharmonic) and ” SILBER ” are engraved at the top of the coin.
The obverse and the reverse design of the coin were realised by Thomas Pesendorfer in 1989.
