Buying

1Do your bars come with an assay certificate ?
All our gold bullion bars for sale on our website come with their own assay certificate. The certificate mentions a unique serial number which corresponds with the number stamped in the bar. All our bars come from LBMA approved refiners, and produced with very strict quality control standards. These gold bullion bars are made in 24 carat 99.99 % pure gold.
2Do you buy back bullion bars and coins that you have sold ?
Yes Gerrards (Precious Metals) Ltd offer a re-purchase service for any bars or coins bought previously from us or not. You can find more informations about our buying prices and how to sell your gold in our dedicated pages.
3Do you buy scrap gold and silver ?
Gerrards (Precious Metals) Ltd also buy scrap gold and silver in the form of jewellery, dental gold, grains, etc…
4Can I buy directly from your store? (in person, over the counter)

You can come in store to buy gold bullion bars and coins. However, we might not have all the goods listed in our website in stock.

We strongly recommend to contact us in advance to check if we have in our stock the bars and/or coins you are looking for.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 4:30pm.

5How long do I have to pay by Bank Transfer for my order?

Payments by Bank Transfer must be made within the next 24 hours after placing your order.

For payment via Bank Transfers, funds must be received before 3.00 p.m. during working hours on our working days to guarantee that your goods will be dispatched the same day.

Please note that payments must be sent from your bank account and not from a third party bank account. Otherwise, it will be rejected.

6Why do I have to send a copy of a bank statement if I pay by credit / debit card?
Our KYC procedure includes a bank match to verify your identity. Your bank details are used to compare your name with the name in the bank account where the money is coming from. All we require is to see the top part of your bank statement (your name and address). We do not require to see any balances or transfer. These can be blanked out.
7Am I required to provide identification when dealing with you ?

We require your ID due to two sets of regulations which govern our industry for retail clients. These are Money Laundering Regulations and the HMRC 'Gold Rules' for investing in Gold.


Therefore, according to these regulations and our KYC policy, you must provide a Proof of ID (passport or Driving License) and a Proof of Address (recent utility bill no older than 3 months).


If you are paying by Bank Transfer, you must provide a copy of a Bank Statement to ensure where the funds comes from.

8What happen to the information I have provided when creating my account?
We are obliged under the regulations to gather this information to provide who you are. This information is stored in our archives as part of our KYC procedure. It is secure, not given to any third party unless requested by a government agency.

Selling

2Do I need to appointment to sell my gold in person?

No you can come directly with your items during our opening hours. Our buying room is open Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:30pm.

If it is the first time that you sell to us, please ensure that you bring a proof of identity , proof of address and copy of a bank statement.

4Which payment methods are available when selling?

We offer the following payment method when we purchase precious metals from you.

  • Bank Transfer : BACS (3 working days, free), FPS (same day, £5 fee), CHAPS (same day, £23 fee)

Storage

1How to buy with storage?

Simply select the storage option in the checkout page and your goods will be placed immediately in storage.


Payment for our storage service must be made in arrears. You will be informed of your billing frequency when placing your order. Your first payment may cover a different period than the usual billing frequency.

2What are the storage charges?
Monthly storage fees are as follow :
  • a minimum charge of £10.00
  • for gold: 0.03 % of the total value of the goods stored.
  • for silver: 0.1% of the total value of the goods stored.
3How my goods are stored?

Your gold and silver bullion are stored in the form of allocated storage. They are separated, identifiable and completely segregated from those of other customers. All our stored metals are fully allocated (not leveraged), so what you buy is what is being stored for you.


Storage of your goods will be either within our own facility, or via our subcontractors.

4Can I store goods that I have not purchased from you?

Goods that have not been purchased from us can be accepted for our storage service only at our discretion. If accepted, your goods must be delivered to our Hatton Garden Premises.


Goods that have not been purchased from us will be stored on an "as-is" or "said-to-contain" basis. We may require additional information or terms to accept such goods. We cannot be responsible for their authenticity or assay characteristics.


Please contact us first to make arrangements for us to receive your goods for storage.

5What is the minimum storage period?
The minimum period of storage is 1 month.
6Can I get my goods delivered to me from storage?

Yes you can request to remove your goods from storage and get them delivered to you. You must give us 14 days prior notice, mentioning which items you wish to bring out of storage.


Delivery to your address will be made by insured delivery service, in instalments as appropriate to the maximum parcel weight or value. We can provide a tracking number, so you can monitor the progress of your delivery.

7What are the charges to get my goods delivered from storage?
The following charges apply for removal and delivery of your goods from storage:
  • £25 delivery fee
  • Gold: 0.25% for the value of goods delivered, with a maximum value per parcel of £30,000.
  • Silver: 1.5% for the value of goods delivered, with a maximum weight per parcel of 5kg.
8Can you store my gold / silver bullions?
Gerrards (Precious Metals) Ltd provides a storage service in partnership with Loomis International. You must select the option "Secure Storage" during the Checkout before to click on the "Place Order" button.
9How do I know if my goods are safe when stored with you?
All your goods are stored in a Fully Insured and Secure Vault, or kept in an LBMA facility. For more details about Insurance, you can contact us if you require the T&C details for the service.

Delivery

1How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is free of charge and fully insured for all orders in UK and Northern Island. For delivery in other geographical areas, shipping charges may vary.
2Do you ship outside the UK ? Can you deliver overseas ?
Yes we can deliver outside of the UK, except in the Channel Islands. However, shipping charges may vary.
3Can I change my delivery address?
For security reasons, we are unable to deliver to addresses other than the one mentioned in your Proof of Address. Because of the high attempt of fraudulent transactions and identity theft, we are unable to send orders to different residential addresses to those other than the registered bank account address. Please also note that delivery addresses cannot be changed for orders placed with a debit or credit card under any circumstances. Orders placed online with a credit/debit card can only be delivered to the same address as the card is registered to.
4What happen if I am not at home to take Delivery ?
If you are not at home to take delivery, a note will be left by the courier so that you can rearrange delivery for another day or collect your goods from your local sorting office/depot taking ID with you. Your parcel will remain fully insured up until it is signed for. If you wish your order to be sent a specific day, you can let us know which day will be more convenient for you.
5Ho will I know when my order is being delivered ?
We will notice you by email when your order will be dispatched.
6What is the latest time I can place an order for next-day delivery ?
Your goods will be delivered the next day if you have placed your order before 3pm during business days. This implies that we have received your legal documents (Proof of Identity + Proof of Address) and your funds have been cleared. The previous conditions guarantee that your order will be dispatched the same day and received the next following day.
7Is my delivery insured ?
Yes your goods are fully insured during all the delivery process until they are signed and received by you.
8How are my goods sent / delivered ?
If you are a private individual and you have placed an order less than £30,000, your goods will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery service. If you are a private individual and you have placed an order over £30,000, your goods will be delivered by instalments of multiple parcels up to £30,000 in value. Gerrards (Precious Metals) Ltd is restricted to a maximum parcel value of £30,000 per person per day. In this case, we will need confirmation of parcel reception to dispatch the next parcels until we have delivered your order in its totality. Please note that a signature to the delivery carrier will be required. You have to make sure that you sign for it as it is your responsibility.
9How long will it take to receive my order ?
As long as Gerrards (Precious Metals) Ltd confirms the reception of your payment the same day of your order before 3pm, your goods will be delivered the next day.

Collection

1Can I buy online and collect my order in store?

Yes, you can choose the option "Collect in Store" in the Checkout page to collect your goods from our Hatton Garden office in London.

Once we confirm reception of your payment and your documents, you will receive an email to confirm that you can come into our premise to collect your goods.

On collection, you will need to provide a provide a copy of your order and your photographic ID.

Please be aware that orders cannot be collected by any third party other than the person named on the order.
2Will I need my ID to collect my order?

YES. On collection, you must provide your original proof of ID (passport or Driving License).

Please be aware that goods cannot be collected by someone other than the person named on the order.

3Can I park near your office?
Several car parks are available near our office. You can look at parkopedia to see the closest car parks with bays available.

We have a public car park close to our office. If you call us in advance, we can try to arrange a parking space for you.

4When can I collect my order if I selected "Collection in Store" at checkout?

Once your payment has been received (+ for first purchase: you have provided us with the required legal documents), your good should be ready immediately for collection.

We will let you know by phone or email when your goods are ready for collection.

Payment

1Which methods of payment do you accept ?
We accept payment via personal Credit / Debit card for orders up to £5,000. Please note that we do not accept business credit/debit card We also accept payment via Bank Transfer for orders of any amount as long as you provided the required documents.
2Can I pay online by Debit / Credit Card ?
Yes you can pay online by credit / debit card up to £5,000. You just have to select Credit / Debit Card as the payment method during the checkout. Please note that we do not accept the following credit / debit card: American Express, Dinners Club and Business Credit / Debit cards.
3Do I have to provide identification to purchase from you ?
Yes you MUST provide the following documents: • Proof of ID (passport, driving license) • Proof of Address (Recent utility bill no older than 3 months) • Proof of Bank Statement (for payment via Bank Transfer).
4Is VAT payable on bullion products ?
Since the 1st January 2000, there is no VAT applied to investment gold throughout the EU. However, silver bullion products are subject to VAT at the current standard rate (20%).
5Why is the price different when I place my order ?
The “from” price indicated in our website corresponds to the cheapest available price. Our product’s prices depend on the quantity you are purchasing. In order to see the various prices listed by quantity, please click on the product itself to see our bulk pricing in details for the specific product.
6Your prices for Gold and Silver are above current market prices. Why is that ?
The global spot price for gold is based on inter-bank transfers of large numbers of London Good Delivery Bars which are 12.5 kilograms each. This price is only available to large banks and does not include any brokerage fees, transportation, storage or insurance. Smaller bars are always sold at a premium to the London spot price to reflect the additional costs of producing and testing smaller bars. Our premiums are extremely competitive and are lowest on our larger bars.
7How will I know you have received my funds ?
You will receive an automatic email from Gerrards (Precious Metals) Ltd to confirm that we have received your funds and those have been cleared in our bank account.
8Can I order over the phone ?
Yes, you can place an order over the phone. However, please note that we do not accept card payments over the phone.
9How much time do I have to make my payment ?
If you would like to pay via Bank Transfer, your payment MUST be made within the next 24 hours after placing your order. Your funds must be received before 3 o’clock during business days to guarantee that your goods will be dispatched the same day. As we cannot, the price of the product can not be confirmed until the funds have arrived in our account. However, we will do our upmost to keep the original price
10Can I buy in cash from you ?
No. We do not accept cash payment.
11Do you have a minimum / maximum spending limit ?
For payments by credit / dedit card, we accept orders up to £5,000. For payments by Bank Transfer, we are not restricted to a specific amount.

2How long does it take to process my job?

We use the following figure as estimates, depending on the type of goods you are selling:

  • Clean and hallmarked scrap: Same or next day
  • Assayed bars: Same or next day
  • Lemels and melts: 3 to 5 working days
  • Sweeps: 7 to 10 working days
3What are the payment options for business customers?

We offer the following payment options:
